Windows 98 / ME – Changing your IP Settings

  1. In Windows 98/ME, click the Start button.
  2. Select Settings --> Control Panel. Double click on the network icon. Control Panel will load. The network settings window will appear.
  3. In the Network dialog box, click the Configuration tab if it isn't already selected.
  4. In the list of network components installed make sure that Client for Microsoft Networks is set as the Primary Network Logon. Then select the entry for the TCP/IP protocol for your network adaptor (or if it only shows the one TCP/IP protocol like above, select that one), then click the Properties button. A properties window with multiple tabs will appear.
  5. Click on the IP Address tab ( If you have a router so you can connect multiple computers, click on Obtain IP Address Automatically).  If you do not have a router, you will need to enter in your IP Address and Subnet Mask here. You will need to enter the default gateway in the Gateway tab.
  6. Click on the DNS Configuration tab. If you have a router, you won’t need to touch any of these settings. If you do not have a router, enter the following information:
    1. Click on the Enable DNS option button.
    2. In the Host box, enter the hostname you were given when you registered.
    3. Enter airlogic.net in the Domain box.
    4. In the DNS Server Search Order fields, enter the following IP addresses (clicking the add button after each entry): FILLMEIN
    5. In the Domain Suffix Search Order box enter airlogic.net and click on Add.
  7. All the other tabs can be left as they are. Click OK
